A Simple Blood Test May Predict Prostate Cancer Survival

A recent study at Oregon Health & Science University Cancer Institute has identified a protein that is a good indicator of survival for men with advanced prostate cancer. This protein, known as CRP, is produced by the liver, and its levels is very high in the presence of inflammation.
According study leader, this could mean that a simple blood test that is already available could help in clinical decision making and patient counseling. Patients and doctors would know better what to expect from the prostate cancer they are facing.
The research findings were published online in the journal Cancer on Monday, April 21.
